  1. Simple BeatQuarter Note as 1 beatduple
    Compund BeatDotted Quarter Note as "3 of something"triple

Poly-Rhythm:   Two seperate rhythms that in no way match up, and can be played simultaneously in Real Time!  The two rhythms are Off-Set from each other!

What is interesting is that the written two rhythms you see on the paper cannot truly duplicate what you physically do on you drum(s) to apply the rhythms.  Its a natural abstraction on Human Time Sense, and Universal Time.  Its as though on Paper its straight and Square-On movement, whereas in Real Time its "Curved" movement!  Consider the See-Saw, or Teeter Totter!
